ABOUT
Claudette Goico Šernius is a Dominican artist who works primarily in painting and sculpture, as well as in other art forms. Her work is is conceptually charged and supported by research with the purposed to raise awareness about global, social, and personal issues.
Claudette obtained an associate of arts in Architecture and a Certificate in Geographic Information System (GIS) from Broward College's Robert "Bob" Elmore Honors College, which informed her understanding of form, space, and data and her blend of technical precision and artistic sensibility. She later obtained a bachelor’s degree in fine arts with a Minor in Art History at Florida International University (FIU) Honors College. She has studied under master sculptor Nilda Comas and painter David Chang. She has won award such as the Picasso Award, her work has been published in the Panku Magazine, and recently received the Artist Support Grant from Broward County. Her work has been featured at The Frank C. Ortis Art Gallery & Exhibit Hall in Pembroke Pines, The Wolfsonian Museum and Laundromat Art Space in Miami.
Claudette is committed to help others. She wants to promote art as a tool of self-empowerment and education, to help individuals become the best version of themselves by supporting, nurturing, and investing in the community through art exhibits, publications, and research projects.
She currently resides in South Florida, where she lives with her husband Kristijonas and beloved dog, Ghost.
